SkillsAbacus Academy was born from one teacher's deep passion — and has grown into Maharashtra's most trusted mental mathematics institute.

Founder & Director

Meet Ms Ashwini Jadhav

Ms Ashwini is the heart and soul of SkillsAbacus Academy. With over a decade of hands-on teaching experience in Abacus and Vedic Mathematics, she has personally trained more than 12,000 students across Maharashtra and beyond.

Her journey began in 2013 when, as a young educator deeply passionate about cognitive development in children, she saw how conventional math teaching was failing to ignite curiosity. She pursued intensive training in the UCMAS methodology and later in Vedic Mathematics, becoming one of the first certified Abacus trainers in Pune.

What started as a small batch of 12 students in her living room has grown into a structured academy with trained faculty, a proven curriculum, and a national competition track record. Ms Ashwini has represented India at international Abacus championships and continues to coach students who go on to win national titles.

"Every child is born a genius. My job is simply to help them discover it," she says — and her students' results speak for themselves.

The First Batch

Ms Ashwini begins teaching 12 students from her home in Pimpri-Chinchwad after completing her UCMAS certification.

SkillsAbacus Academy Founded

The academy officially registers with its first dedicated centre, curriculum framework, and a team of 3 trained faculty members.

What is SkillsAbacus Academy?+

SkillsAbacus Academy, founded by Ms Ashwini in 2013, is a certified mental mathematics training institute based in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune. We offer Abacus Mental Arithmetic, Vedic Mathematics, and Trainer Certification programmes to students aged 5 and above. We have trained over 12,000 students across Maharashtra and have over 200 certified trainers in our network.

Is SkillsAbacus certified / affiliated?+

Yes. Our Abacus programme is certified under the UCMAS (Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System) methodology, which is internationally recognised. Our Vedic Mathematics programme follows the curriculum of the Vedic Maths Forum India. All levels have formal assessments and certificates.

Do you offer online classes?+

Yes! We offer both online and in-centre classes. Our online classes are conducted via Zoom/Google Meet with the same certified trainers and full curriculum. Many students prefer online for convenience, and our results show no difference in learning outcomes between online and in-centre formats.

Is there a free trial or demo class?+

Absolutely! We offer a free 45-minute demo class for all new students before any commitment. Simply fill in the booking form and our team will contact you within 2 hours to schedule a convenient time. There is no obligation to enrol after the demo.

Abacus Programme

What is the right age to start Abacus?+

The ideal age to begin Abacus training is between 5 and 7 years, when the brain is at its most plastic and neural pathways form most readily. However, children up to age 14 can benefit greatly. The earlier you start, the more dramatic the cognitive benefits tend to be.

How long does the Abacus programme take?+

Our Abacus programme has 14 levels. Students typically complete 1–2 levels every 3–4 months with weekly classes. The full 14-level programme takes approximately 2–3 years. Each level ends with a formal assessment and a certificate of completion.

Will Abacus actually help my child in school?+

Yes — and the improvement is typically very noticeable within 3–6 months. Students become faster at arithmetic, develop better concentration, improve their working memory, and show increased academic confidence across all subjects — not just mathematics. Teachers consistently report improvements in students who attend our programme.

Do students participate in competitions?+

Yes! We actively prepare students for local, state, national, and international Abacus Olympiads. Our students have won medals at the Maharashtra State Championship and have represented India at the UCMAS World Championship. Competition participation is encouraged from Level 4 onwards, though it is never mandatory.

Vedic Mathematics

What is Vedic Mathematics?+

Vedic Mathematics is a system of mental calculation based on 16 Sutras (word-formulae) and 13 sub-sutras, originally rediscovered from the ancient Atharva Veda by Swami Bharati Krishna Tirthaji in the early 20th century. These sutras provide elegant shortcuts for arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and calculus — enabling students to solve problems many times faster than conventional methods.

Is Vedic Maths useful for JEE / NEET / CAT?+

Absolutely. Vedic Mathematics is particularly valuable for any competitive exam with a quantitative component. The speed advantage is significant — students who master Vedic techniques can complete calculation-heavy questions in 30–50% less time, leaving more time for complex reasoning. Many top JEE and CAT rankers use Vedic techniques as part of their toolkit.

What are the three levels in your Vedic Maths course?+

Foundation (8 weeks): All 16 sutras, basic multiplication, division, and squaring. Intermediate (10 weeks): Large numbers, cubes, cube roots, algebraic applications. Advanced (12 weeks): Simultaneous equations, calculus shortcuts, and exam strategy — specifically targeted at JEE/NEET/banking exams.

Trainer Certification

Who is the Trainer's Certification course for?+

The Trainer's Certification Programme is designed for anyone who wants to teach Abacus and Vedic Mathematics — including school teachers, homemakers, working professionals looking for a second income, and entrepreneurs wanting to open a coaching centre. No prior teaching experience is required, but a passion for working with children is essential.

Can I start my own centre after certification?+

Yes! Certified trainers have the option to affiliate their centre with SkillsAbacus and receive ongoing support including curriculum materials, marketing resources, student management software, and access to competitions. We have a growing network of affiliated centres across Maharashtra and are actively expanding to new cities.

Fees, Batches & Logistics

What are the batch timings available?+

We offer multiple batch timings to fit school and work schedules: Morning (9am–12pm), Afternoon (12pm–4pm), Evening (4pm–7pm), and Weekend batches (Saturday & Sunday). Classes are typically held twice a week for 45–60 minutes per session.

What are the fees?+

Fee structures vary by programme, level, and batch format (online vs in-centre). We believe in transparent, affordable pricing with no hidden costs. Please contact us or book a counselling session for the current fee structure — our counsellors will walk you through all options and any available scholarships or early-enrolment offers.

Is there an abacus tool included in the fee?+

Yes. A certified 13-row or 17-row Abacus tool (as required for the level) is provided as part of the course material fee at enrolment. Workbooks and practice sheets are also provided each term.

What if my child misses a class?+

We understand that life happens! All online classes are recorded and accessible to enrolled students. For in-centre students, we offer makeup sessions within the same month. We also recommend our home practice worksheets to ensure no learning is lost between sessions.
